Amplifier details:

This amplifier has ZERO feedback and therefore the sound is open, relax and mellow. 6L6 has been used widely in vintage amplifiers. It is not the linear-est tube but definitely one of the good sounding ones.

The output transformer was specially designed to have very high primary inductance (20H @ 100Hz) and therefore the low frequency response is excellent. This amplifier is more flexible due to the decent output power and can be matched to quite a number of loudspeakers. The dynamics is as good as a class A 1969 or TDA7294 and even the LM1875 solid state amplifiers.

The input/output sockets are high quality gold plated pure copper version, unlike those very thin chemically plated version which will wear off in a very short duration. The volume knob is 36mm, with a 6A 250V high quality durable ship type on-off switch.

This is a true full tube amplifier and therefore it has output transformers. The quality of the output transformers is most important to the sound quality and we spare no changes on that. The output transformer is one of the reasons for the tube sound – proper matching of impedance.

What you will be purchasing:

150W power transformers – cool and quiet running. High quality output transformers made of Z11 made in Japan SiFe EI core. The power transformers and output transformers are arranged in such that the interference are minimized. With Z11, the output transformer has higher primary inductance and therefore the low frequency response will be excellent. Z11 is much better than the H14 or H18 SiFe cores. These transformers make most of the cost of this 6P3P / 6L6 single ended tube amplifier.

This 6P3P / 6L6 tube amplifier is purely hand made. The chassis is made of solid Ash wood, being properly dried and painted + polished multiple times. The wood grain is rich and the design is simple yet elegant. The top plate is 2mm ALU, bottom plate is 1mm ALU.

This tube amplifier employs CLC filter with a huge 5H 200mA choke to further lessen the power supply ripple and provides a better and cleaner / darker background.

*** This is an economical hand-made solid wood chassis. There shall be imperfections, such as wood fillings or wood grain cosmetic imperfections. Purist and perfectionist – please do not buy! ***

Output power: 6W x2 (tube amplifier overloads gently – even harmonics, and therefore it sounded more powerful that it should be).

Note:

I. When ordering, please specify if 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm output tap is needed. Default is 8 Ohm.

II. This amplifier runs full class A, with low distortion, sweet and mellow sound, and is suitable to drive high efficiency speakers, or bookshelf speakers. Full range single driver will be ideal and perfect match for this tube amplifier.

III. It is a MUST to connect to a load (speakers) when the amplifier is switched on to prevent damage to the tube and amplifier.

IV. The wood grain will be different with every unit of amplifier produced.

V. Reinforced packaging are applied for this amplifier. Tubes are in a separate box/compartment and users will install tubes themselves.

Additional features: 

 

We have changed the tube rectifier from 5Z4P to 5Z3P, to provide more current to the amplifier circuit, better for dynamics, headroom and bass response. User will not hear any hum at the listening position. There is just very slight hum can be heard if ears are sticking next to the driver.

Components: J grade Beijing 6N1-J and Shuguang 6P3P-J tube. Shuguang 5Z3P tube rectifier. PSU capacitors – Nippon Chemicon or Nichicon electrolytics, with high power metalized oxide resistors and 5H 200mA choke with form a CLC power supply filter to suppress the rectification ripple/noise.

Coupling: Rifa film capacitors, paralleled with oil capacitors for warm and refined sound. Bypass capacitors are with high quality made in Taiwan electrolytics. Volume control is with Taiwan Alpha B100K stereo attenuator.

Output transformers: 3.5K: 0-4-8 Ohm, made with high grade Z11 SiFe steel with special winding method for better sound.
