There are 3 methods of filtering EMI/RFI.
1. Bypass between Live and Neutral lines with X or X2 capacitors. It reduces common mode noises. Capacitance range 0.01UF to 0.47UF.
2. Bypass Live and Neutral lines to ground with Y or Y2 capacitors. It reduces differential mode noise. Capacitance range is 2200PF to 0.1UF. In order to reduce leakage current, the capacitance should not be more than 0.1UF (we chose 3300PF).
3. Common mode cancellation - using CMC choke. CMC choke would need thick gauge wires for high current handling, and adequate inductance is required to improve low frequency response. We use 10mH.
The module has 2 components:
1. DC filter or DC blocker
2. Integrated 2-stage EMI/RFI filter.
Board size: 43 x 107mm, 2mm thickness, 70um copper trace
